Carlsquare strengthens Education and Training expertise and UK market coverage with appointment of Jamie Edge as Partner

21 Sep 2026

Jamie Edge joins from EY-Parthenon, where he was a Partner in the M&A practice and led the firm’s global Education and Training M&A activity.

Jamie brings 20 years of M&A experience and has advised on more than 70 transactions, including around 50 in Education, Training and EdTech. His selected transactions include the sale of Orbital Education to EQT, the sale of First Intuition’s to Apiary Capital, the sale of Improve International’s to Levine Leichtman Capital Partners, and the sale of Matchware to Everway and the acquisition of Totara by Tenzing.

Demand for digital and AI-related upskilling, learning technology and more flexible training models is supporting consolidation and cross-border investment in education and training businesses. According to HolonIQ, around 360 M&A transactions were recorded in the global education sector in 2025, approximately 20 per cent more than in 2024. Activity was concentrated in digitally integrated systems, infrastructure and job-aligned upskilling.

Education connects with Technology, Business Services, Consumer and Healthcare, sectors in which Carlsquare has an established track record. The development of AI-enabled delivery models is creating opportunities for businesses to expand across the UK, Europe and other international markets. Jamie will support Carlsquare’s offices and clients internationally on education and training transactions, while also helping the firm build relationships with UK businesses and shareholders across sectors.

Jamie’s appointment builds on Carlsquare’s growing activity in education and related sectors, including Reducate’s acquisition of GOING PUBLIC! and Edukatus Alliance AB’s sale of Astar AB. He will work closely with Partner Sebastian Fischer in Munich and the wider Carlsquare team across the firm’s international network.

Jamie Edge comments: “The vast majority of education deals happen in the mid-market, Carlsquare’s sweet spot. Deal volumes in EdTech have grown for more than a decade, with innovation sustaining investor demand despite macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty. I look forward to joining Carlsquare, supporting EdTech founders and helping drive cross-border transactions in this increasingly attractive market.”

CEO Michael Moritz says: “Jamie’s appointment strengthens our Education and Training offering and supports the continued growth of our London practice. As a UK native with deep knowledge of the local market, he will help us build further relationships with UK companies while supporting international clients pursuing opportunities in the sector.”

Carlsquare’s London team comprises around 25 investment professionals and is led by Managing Partner Arnold Holle. The office has recently added senior sector expertise across software and technology services, debt advisory and industrial technology.

With around 50 private-equity-sponsored transactions each year, Carlsquare is one of Europe’s most active M&A advisers. The partner-led firm specialises in technology and growth companies and employs more than 180 people across 12 offices in Europe and the United States.
