- What documents are required for the application?
We require the following documents:
– CV

– Cover letter - What qualifications are required?
Education:
Intern: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in finance, accounting, or a similar discipline, with at least the 4th semester completed.
Analyst/Associate: Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a similar discipline.
Work Experience:
Intern: Previous internships in M&A, finance transactions, or advisory services.
Analyst: 1-3 years of work experience, including internships, in M&A, finance transactions, or advisory services.
Associate: 3-5 years of work experience in M&A, finance transactions, or advisory services.
Required for All Roles:
– Strong knowledge of financial reporting
– Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
– Exceptional attention to detail
– Language skills: English and German (both written and spoken fluency required)
– Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint - What does the application process look like?
Our process consists of two interviews:
First interview: Getting to know eachother (usually digital)
Second interview: Includes a case study (usually in person)
Candidates are notified of the outcome shortly after the second interview. - Is there an application deadline?
There is no fixed recruitment period. We advertise both junior and senior positions year-round, depending on demand.
For internships, applications open approximately 6-9 months prior to the start date.
For example, if you’re applying for an internship in Q1, the job listing would be posted at the end of March/start of April and remain open for several weeks. - Can I submit an unsolicited application?
Yes, we welcome unsolicited applications. You can submit one by selecting the Unsolicited Applications category on the Open Positions page.
- How can I prepare for the interview?
Be ready to answer questions on the following topics:

– Technical: Accounting, valuation, and the M&A process.
– Personal fit: Teamwork skills, prior experience, and motivation.
– Industry knowledge: General M&A trends, mid-market dynamics, and notable recent transactions.
– Case study preparation: You should be comfortable presenting case studies using Excel and PowerPoint. - Is there an opportunity for international secondments?
Yes, permanent Carlsquare employees have the opportunity for a 3-month secondment in one of our offices, subject to coordination with the respective office/team.
