Carlsquare advised the Joachim Herz Foundation on its minority stake investment through capital increase in Weidmüller
The Foundation now holds approximately 20% of the family business’ shares, with the aim of driving long-term development and accelerating growth.
Founded in Hamburg in 2008, the Joachim Herz Foundation is one of the largest German non-profit foundations. It promotes education and research, supporting projects that help society meet the demands of the future. The Foundation is especially active in the areas of business, natural sciences, engineering and medicine.
Weidmüller is a global provider of electrical connectivity, automation and digitalization solutions. Founded in 1850, the firm today has production facilities and subsidiaries in more 80 countries as well as 6,000 employees worldwide. Weidmüller had revenues exceeding a billion euros for the 2023 business years. For almost a hundred years, the business has been owned by the Gläsel family.
The transaction enables Weidmüller to gain an investor and partner who shares its values when it comes to education, research, sustainability and societal responsibility. The collaboration is intended to be for the long term, with particular emphasis placed on markets of the future in addition to innovative solutions for electrification, automation and digitalization.
