Carlsquare advised curea and Mérieux on on the arrangement of a construction facility to finance curea's new headquarters
Carlsquare advised curea medical GmbH (“curea”), a leading German manufacturer of advanced wound care products, and its owner Mérieux Equity Partners (“Mérieux”) on the arrangement of a construction facility to finance curea’s new headquarters in Teistungen, Thuringia. The financing enables curea to consolidate headquarters and manufacturing operations at a single location, laying the foundation for the company’s production ramp-up and international expansion.
curea is a fully integrated MedTech producer specializing in high-performance, multifunctional wound dressings for the treatment of complex, highly exuding and predominantly chronic wounds. Its products are based on the patented SuperCore® superabsorber technology. Founded in 2010, curea holds a leading position in the growing German superabsorber dressing market and serves a loyal base of leading German homecare providers.
Mérieux Equity Partners is a French healthcare-focused investment firm. Following the successful carve-out from former parent McAirlaid’s Vliesstoffe GmbH, a transaction in which Carlsquare also acted as advisor, Mérieux has been the majority owner of curea since March 2025.
Carlsquare supported curea and Mérieux throughout the entire process, from designing the financing structure to selecting the right financing partner. The tailored solution, arranged with the incumbent lender and complemented by public grant funding, provides curea with the flexibility to execute the construction project while continuing to pursue its growth strategy. The transaction demonstrates how Carlsquare’s debt advisory team supports clients with financing solutions well beyond the acquisition phase.
“The new headquarters marks the next important step for curea following the carve-out from McAirlaid’s, bringing our administration and production together under one roof and strengthening our independence as a company. It provides the foundation to scale our production and pursue our international expansion plans. We thank Carlsquare and all parties involved for making this milestone possible with a financing solution tailored to our needs ” – Dr. Andreas Bolz, Managing Director, curea medical GmbH
Carlsquare acted as the exclusive debt advisor to curea and Mérieux Equity Partners.
