Carlsquare advised KMS, a leading provider of data warehouse solutions in the healthcare sector in Germany, on the sale to CompuGroup Medical
CompuGroup Medical SE & Co. KGaA (CGM), one of the world’s leading e-health companies, acquired KMS Vertrieb und Services AG (KMS), one of the leading providers of data warehouse solutions in the healthcare sector in Germany.
Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Unterhaching, KMS has established itself as the market leader for data warehouse solutions in the healthcare sector in Germany with more than 450 projects. The company’s main products are eisTIK® and EYE ON HEALTH®.
The special strength of the eisTIK® data warehouse system lies in explorative analysis, depth of detail and consistency of the data generated from various upstream systems. A highly specialised team of consultants with many years of industry experience ensures that data is turned into answers.
With EYE ON HEALTH®, KMS also offers its clients the possibility of a regional benchmark or targeted geomarketing. For this purpose, data from a wide variety of sources is determined and made available on a daily basis in a central knowledge platform, e.g. regional comparative analyses of case numbers, catchment areas for determining patient potential, etc. The linking of corporate key figures with socio-demographic information allows the targeted definition of strategic corporate goals.
CGM will market the KMS solutions both independently and integrate them into its portfolio. By combining eisTIK® with CGM software, the administrative hospital data will be enriched with medical data from the treatment context. The result is an information and management tool that provides highly specialised hospitals and healthcare groups alike with an all-round view of their hospital operations.
“Extensive high-quality data material to support clinical, administrative and financial decisions is increasingly becoming the competitive advantage of an institution, in the clinic as well as in the doctor’s practice or a social institution. If you really think in terms of health regions in the future and want to bring the data together across all sectors and use it, then what we are planning to do here is exactly the right path,” emphasises Alois G. Steidel, founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KMS. Alois Steidel will continue to contribute his expertise and network to the new corporate constellation in a leading position as a member of the Executive Board of KMS Vertrieb und Services AG.
“By linking medical and nursing data with administrative and business management data, a comprehensive multidimensional picture is created across all hospital areas. Process indicators make complex relationships transparent and provide important insights for optimising clinical workflows,” explains Hannes Reichl, Managing Director Inpatient and Social Care at CGM. “We see the future of the KMS portfolio not only in the clinical sector, but equally in medical-care centres, large medical practices and social care facilities.”
Carlsquare acted as exclusive financial advisor to KMS Vertrieb und Services AG.
