19 Jul 2017

July 20, 2017 – Munich/Regensburg – intive, a global digital product development company headquartered in Munich, is investing in iNTENCE automotive electronics, a German automotive software expert, to better serve the auto sector in Germany. The two companies have a complementary offering which results in a one stop shop for automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers when it comes to all of their software needs. intive has acquired 65 percent of the stakes in iNTENCE, which will continue to operate as a separate unit under the current management.

“Digital companies such as Airbnb or Uber disrupt the traditional business models of various industries. Tesla and IT giants like Google or Apple drive this development in the automotive sector – inside and outside of the car,” explains Ludovic Gaudé, CEO of intive. “Helping our customers to address this digital transformation is intive’s key driver. Joining forces with iNTENCE will enable us to support our customers in the automotive sector along their whole journey into the digital world.”

Both intive and iNTENCE already have a strong footprint in the automotive sector and collaborate with car manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, MAN, Porsche and Volkswagen as well as Tier 1 suppliers such as Continental, Here and Hella. iNTENCE specializes in developing embedded automotive software, shaping Human Machine Interfaces and creating future driving assistance systems. intive’s experience in the areas of web and mobile development, product and UX design as well as IT security complement its offering for the automotive sector.

“10 years ago, it was a bold move to found a company totally focused on software in the car. Nowadays trends like autonomous driving, connected cars, e-mobility and future mobility concepts have brought the relevance of software in cars to a whole new level,” says Peter Schmidt, Founder and Managing Director of iNTENCE. “From the beginning, we have built a culture that encourages our team members to challenge the status quo and to push boundaries. In intive, we found a similar culture which was very important for us. Talented people are at the center of our companies and are the key to success in such a fast-moving environment.”

iNTENCE is the second investment intive has made in Germany. In 2013, German mobile specialist Kupferwerk joined intive and since then the German organization has doubled its size. “We strongly believe in Regensburg as a hub of innovative technology and design. Together with iNTENCE, we now have more than 100 members of the global intive team there,” says Gaudé. “Globally we are now more than 1,500 people and we want to continue to grow this team in all our locations. We are constantly looking for open-minded talented people who want to join us on our exciting journey into the digital future.”
